What Is Himaris?

The English Student Association (Himaris) is the official student organization of the English Department at Politeknik Negeri Bandung. Himaris serves as a place for students to learn, develop their skills, and contribute to the department through various academic and non-academic activities.

Himaris organizes different programs such as competitions, social activities, and student events. These activities help students improve their leadership, communication, teamwork, and creativity while gaining valuable experiences outside the classroom. Himaris also serves as a bridge between students and the department by supporting students' aspirations and encouraging active participation in campus life.

Logo Philosophy

The Himaris logo is more than just a symbol. It represents the identity, values, and goals of the organization. Each element reflects the philosophy as stated in Himaris' Articles of Association and Bylaws.

Structure of Organization

In the 2026 organizational period, the Himaris cabinet is named Cabinet Sena Karsa, consisting of the executive board, bureaus, special units, and departments. Each role works collaboratively to plan activities, support members, and achieve the organization's goals.

What Is ESAA?

The English Student Alumni Association (ESAA) of Politeknik Negeri Bandung aims to bring together alumni of the English Department of Polban to stay connected, contribute, and grow together. ESAA serves as a bridge between alumni, active students, and the department, creating opportunities for impactful collaborations.

ESAA is designed to provide long-term benefits for both alumni and students. For students, ESAA can become a source of support, guidance, and inspiration in navigating their academic journey and preparing for future careers. For alumni, ESAA offers a platform to stay connected, expand networks, share experiences, and continuously develop both personally and professionally.

The President of ESAA leads the organization by setting its vision and ensuring all activities align with its goals, as well as forming the organizational structure and programs to achieve its objectives. The Vice President supports the management of the organization and also handles budgeting as Treasurer. The Secretary manages administrative tasks and also acts as Division Coordinator to coordinate communication across all roles. The Marketing team is responsible for managing social media, promoting programs and alumni achievements, and maintaining relationships with alumni and external partners. The Operational team organizes events such as reunions, seminars, and social activities, as well as managing volunteer and scholarship programs. The Fundraising team manages finances, seeks sponsorships, and supports funding for various programs. Meanwhile, the Job Portal team manages a platform that provides job opportunities and career information for alumni.

About the English Department

The English Department at Politeknik Negeri Bandung (Polban) is committed to prepare students for professional careers by combining strong English communication skills with practical knowledge. As a vocational higher education department, it focuses on applied learning, allowing students to develop the knowledge and skills needed to success in today's workplace.

Throughout their studies, students improve their English skills while gaining practical experience in translation, professional writing, business communication, public speaking, digital content creation, and intercultural communication. The learning activities include classroom discussions, presentations, projects, and other hands-on experiences that help students apply their knowledge in real-life situations. This approach also encourages students to develop critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Study Programs

The English Department offers two study programs:

  • Diploma III English Language, a three-year program, which focuses on practical English communication, translation, and professional writing, preparing students for careers in business correspondence, translation, tourism, and public relations.
  • Diploma IV English for Business and Professional Communication, a four-year program, which focuses on digital media communication and advanced translation, preparing students for careers in business communication, digital content writing, audiovisual translation, and copywriting.

Learning is supported by experienced lecturers and industry-oriented curriculum that keep students connected with current workplace needs. Students are also encouraged to take part in internships, workshops, academic competitions, and community service activities. These opportunities help them strengthen both their technical abilities and soft skills, preparing them for their future career.

Beyond academics, students can actively participate in campus organizations and activities. One of the most important student organizations is the English Student Association (Himaris). Through Himaris, students can develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills while planning and participating in various academic, social, and creative events. These experiences help students grow both personally and professionally.

With a supportive learning environment and a strong emphasis on practical education, the English Department at Polban prepares graduates to become confident, adaptable, and skilled professionals. Graduates can work in fields such as business, media, education, translation, tourism, public relations, and digital communication.
