Making Every Journey Meaningful with HayuJalan

Being a child growing up in a village, Anggia Tresna Wibawa often wondered what the world beyond his surroundings looked like. His curiosity led him to imagine places he had never seen before, shaping a dream of exploring the world. However, it was not until he entered college that he began to recognize his true passion—business. His life experiences, combined with his childhood dream, eventually became the foundation of HayuJalan, a tour and travel company dedicated to turning every journey into a meaningful experience.

I came from a village. When I was a child, I had no idea what the outside world was like. I had a dream of discovering the world.

This curiosity did not simply remain a dream, but it gradually shaped his mindset. Driven by this desire, he became determined to keep learning and exploring any opportunities that came his way.

As he grew older, Anggia initially believed that he wanted to become an engineer. Before entering college, he took a psychological test to identify his potential. The results showed that he had strong potential in areas like management, business, economics, and literature. However, he chose to ignore the results and continued to pursue engineering.

Later, he enrolled at Politeknik Negeri Bandung (Polban), where he studied Building Maintenance and Repair Engineering under the Civil Engineering Department. However, adapting to Polban’s practical learning environment was not always easy. “Polban offers practical and hands-on experiences, which is very good. However, I am more conceptual rather than practical, so it was quite challenging for me,” he said. Facing these challenges led him to reflect on his earlier psychological test results and reconsider whether civil engineering was truly aligned with his interests.

Realizing his truth, Anggia refused to view it as a failure. He would rather see it as a turning point. He committed to continue developing himself by actively participating in competitions and student organizations. His involvement eventually led him to serve as president of HIMAS, the Civil Engineering Student Association of Polban. Through this experience, he gained the freedom to create programs, contribute to the community, and develop his leadership skills. It was during this period that he began to recognize his passion for entrepreneurship.

He first stepped into the world of business out of a need to earn his own money without relying on his family, even starting with a small goal of being able to buy his own phone. What began as a simple effort quickly grew into a strong entrepreneurial drive. He explored reselling opportunities, opened pre-orders, and sold various products through his network, showing an early instinct for spotting opportunities and taking action.

Rather than sticking to just one business, he described himself as someone who was naturally moody and always eager to create something new. This led him to continuously explore different fields. Living in Lembang, he began thinking about how he could support local farmers. He eventually became a supplier who connected them directly with consumers. Around the same time, urban farming was gaining traction through government programs. Even without prior experience, he built a small team and started offering hydroponic installations to schools and institutions. This journey expanded his network and opened doors to other ventures, including livestock and interior projects.

By 2015, his persistence and curiosity were paid off. His experiences across different industries not only generated income but also shaped his mindset and adaptability. Coming from a small village, he proved that his ideas could create real value for the people around him. However, in 2016, he faced a major setback. He lost all his money due to fraudulent investments, causing all his businesses to collapse. To survive, he started selling flight tickets with very thin margins.

HayuJalan

In 2017, he decided to rebuild his life by creating a new business in the tour and travel industry, which he named HayuJalan, combining the Sundanese word hayu, meaning "let's go," and the Indonesian word jalan, meaning "journey.” Inspired by his own experiences of study tours and industrial visit when he was a student at Polban. He saw the potential to create similar impactful experiences for others. Even without prior expertise, he took the initiative to learn and partner with two Polban students majoring in tourism destinations, marking the beginning of his next journey.

In the beginning, the business was not focused on study tours yet. They started with special trips, which had good demand but were still limited in scale. At that time, the operations were mainly run by his partners. It was only in 2018 that he decided to take over the business. From there, he began shifting the focus toward study tours, leveraging the relationships he had built with vocational schools after years of teaching entrepreneurship. These connections became a strong foundation for growth.

Starting HayuJalan was a bold move, but it came with many challenges. At first, the team was small and resources were limited.

We did not even have an office. We often held meetings in a mosque before eventually renting a small space.

They finally secured their first major project, and the team had grown to around ten people by early 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic hit soon after. The business was heavily impacted, projects stopped, revenue disappeared, and many people in his team left as everyone needed to find ways to survive.

After a long period of uncertainty, they slowly began to recover by the end of 2021. Projects started coming back, and the business continued to grow throughout 2022 and 2023. However, in 2024, they faced another challenge due to changes in government policies, once again testing the resilience of the business. At the end of 2025, HayuJalan eventually came back even stronger.

Through HayuJalan, Anggia had found the opportunity to combine his passion in entrepreneurship and his dream of exploration. HayuJalan continued to gradually expand its services and reach. Today, HayuJalan also manages company gatherings, team-building programs, training events, private trips, and large-scale travel arrangements. The company has successfully organized trips involving more than 500 participants and facilitated international travel programs.

HayuJalan's Team

Despite its growth, the company remains grounded in the values that inspired its creation. More than simply organizing trips or events, HayuJalan seeks to create experiences that leave a meaningful impact. “Our goal is not only to provide services. We want to help,” he stated. That mindset has become one of the defining characteristics of HayuJalan. Rather than measuring success solely through business growth, the company places strong emphasis on client satisfaction, comfort, and long-term relationships by prioritizing service quality and understanding the unique needs of every client.

Another value that distinguishes the company is its commitment to empowering young people. Anggia believes that young people have the potential to “set the world on fire” if they are given the right opportunities and environment to grow. However, he realized that many young individuals lack access and opportunities to grow. Therefore, through HayuJalan, he intentionally creates opportunity for young people to grow by offering programs and services that support learning and development, while also recruiting young people and helping them develop their skills.

In the end, what started as a childhood dream eventually grew into something much bigger. Anggia has brought together his passion for entrepreneurship and his desire to explore the world through HayuJalan. The company stands out through its commitment to help its clients by prioritizing comfort, understanding their needs, and delivering meaningful experiences. At the same time, the company continues to stay true to its values by serving the community and creating opportunities for young people to grow alongside HayuJalan.
